Rangers of Tharbad

Pathfinder, Kinship Rank 1

Welcome to the Rangers of Tharbad!

The Rangers of Tharbad are more than rangers, but rather a family. Stealth, strength, knowledge, and honor are all points in which the Rangers of Tharbad live by. There is no point in telling you that the life of a Ranger will be a life of leisure, since we value a hard days work and a good job done. Whether you wish to use your knowledge, arrows or blade for your fellow Rangers, you will be welcomed with open arms.

Consider your early life as a Pathfinder to be your trial period. During this time, you will have to meet certain requirements:

Be active on the RoT Forums. Posting ideas, thoughts and suggestions that will help the kinship as well as it's membership will help us get to know you, as well as give you the chance to get to know us.

Create and post a background/history of your character based on your character's Class, Race and Social standing (make sure to include HOW and WHY they came to be apart of RoT). Keep in mind that an attempt must be made to keep this within Lore boundaries. Length is not an issue but we do want to see the effort. Always remember, the more you reveal of your past, the better we can help you with your future.

Become familiar with the Code of Conduct and RP Rules, and follow them accordingly.

NOTE: Pathfinderhood will last a minimum of 14 days, and a maximum of 30 days. The Recruiter will monitor your progress and will notify you if any tasks remain unfinished before the 30 days have expired. If you do not complete the tasks in the 30 days given, you will be removed from the Kinship.

Woodsman, Kinship Rank 2

Now that you are no longer a Pathfinder, take a time to pat yourself on the back. Novicehood is a point in time that is very tough, especially for the inexperienced.

As a Woodsman, you are officially in the kinship, but not a full-fledged Ranger. That title will come with mounds of experience and accomplishments. Right now, however, you are to focus on the rich traditions and history of both The Rangers of Tharbad, and Tharbad itself. The only way to know where you are going is know where you have come from.

Whether you are a Woodsman for a long time or a short time depends on you. You must complete all tasks given to you, and have met (in-game) with the Taskmaster of the kin to assure that all is in order for your advancement:

Attain a minimum of 3 Merits from a KR4 or above. (See Merits in the Charter for clarification).

Be ACTIVE on both the RoT forums, and our public forums as well.

Take a short, written quiz on the history of Tharbad.

Meet with an officer of the kinship (in-game).

Ranger, Kinship Rank 3

Courteous and indomitable, you are now a trusted member of the kinship. Rangers are to be respectable, but what’s more, you are a Ranger of Tharbad, and are expected to uphold our ideals.

This is a rank that you will spend a lot of time in; no way around it. Though this is not as high as you can go, the path of advancement become much more rigorous from this point on. Only the finest and most loyal of members will advance from here. Members of this rank are seen as mentors to those ranks below them, and are expected to help guide their fellow kin mates up through the ranks.

Right now you are to focus on the deeper meanings and philosophies of the Kinship. The charter will be your guide from this point on. Learn all there is to know about it, and follow it's principles as you venture forth and represent the Rangers of Tharbad.

Many privileges will be bestowed upon you as a Ranger, the biggest of which is the opportunity for you to be an aide to a member of the High Guard. Being an aide is not mandatory, but it will help you to advance to the higher Ranks in the Kinship.

In order to advance, you must first:

Gain 5 Merits as a Ranger

Plan, Organize and Host a successful event for the Rangers of Tharbad.

Become a mentor and aide to a Woodsman wishing to advance to Rangerhood (This can earn you merits as well; 1 per every 2 members you help advance).

Be VERY ACTIVE in all RoT forums for a period of time.

*OPTIONAL* Become an aide to a member of the High Guard (Only for those seeking to one day become an officer).

High Guard, Kinship Rank 4

Congratulations, you have attained the highest rank that any Ranger could hope to attain. This is as high as you can go in the Rangers of Tharbad without being elected into the Swan Council. Now however, you will have the chance to do so; seeking a position on the council is now your right as a member of the High Guard of Tharbad. However, whether you are on the council or not a lot will be expected of you at this rank. You are a representation of the best that the Rangers of Tharbad have to offer, and should conduct yourself in a way befitting of such an honor.

As a member of the High Guard of Tharbad, you are like a "big brother/sister" to those below you in rank. You are expected to be a mentor to them, as you were in your days as a Ranger. Now you are able to help those who are Rangers as well, and must guide them and keep them on the path to advancement.

Life in the High Guard of Tharbad will not be easy however; at this rank you will assume the responsibility of being an aide to a member of the Council of Tharbad. Members of the High Guard of Tharbad are expected to be highly active members who are contributing to the advancement of the KINSHIP from this point on since they can no longer advance themselves. It is important to remember that if you decided to simply lay aside your responsibilities simply because you have reached the highest rank, you WILL be demoted back to Ranger.

Your responsibilities as a member of the High Guard of Tharbad include the following:

Continuing a HIGH level of activity on ALL RoT forums and in-game***.

Being a mentor to lower ranks and helping them advance.

Representing the kinship in a positive manner and being a positive role model.

Being an aide to a member of the Council of Tharbad.

***Note: Being active in-game does not necessarily mean a certain amount of time invested. It means that you are in-game on a fairly regular basis and when you are, you are highly active with the kin and it’s members.

The Council of Tharbad, Kinship Rank 5

Congratulations on reaching the rank of Council Member. This is the Ruling Council of the Rangers of Tharbad and is responsible for making all governing decisions for the Kinship. The work that you will do in the Council will determine the future of the Kinship as well as its dealings with the surrounding community.

Your responsibilities as a member of the Swan Council are:

Perform all duties coinciding with your office.

Attend meetings of the Council when they are called for.

Maintain a HIGH visibility and participation on the Forums as well as in the game.

Submit monthly reports on your Office as well as keep the Council informed of any and all issues/problems that may occur.

Appoint, train, and work with an Aide that you have chosen from the ranks of the High Guard.

Follow the guidelines and directives enacted by the Swan Council as well as constantly looking for ways to improve the kinship and the Council itself.
