Preface
The Code of Conduct and RP Guidelines set forth by the Council of Tharbad are to be considered as the guidelines that anyone wishing to maintain or retain membership in the kin must follow. The following information was created to help create and provide the highest quality kinship possible. Please read thoroughly and if you have any questions about any of the material, contact an officer and they will happily help you.
Code of Conduct, Your Pledge as a Member
- I am a proud member of the Rangers of Tharbad (RoT)
- I understand that I represent a group that is aimed at being well respected as one of the more prominent kinships on the server, and my actions will constantly reflect that goal.
- I will be respectful towards others in both my comments and my actions at ALL times. Regardless of how I may feel about an individual, I understand that public degradation will in no way be tolerated by RoT.
- I understand that RoT does not tolerate 1337 speak.
- I will support the decisions of the leadership of RoT and will present grievances in a mature, respectful manner.
- I will make every attempt in my power to get along with my kin mates.
- I will create a friendly, welcoming environment for all recruits, members, and visitors unless a visitor has arrived with negative intentions.
- When attending kinship groups, meetings, or events I will follow the instructions of the leadership and will respect the rules and regulations of the situation at hand.
- I am a valued member of RoT and will offer my skills, my knowledge, and my talents toward continuously improving the quality of the guild.
- I will do my best to resolve fights, disagreements, or offenses that involve either myself or other kin mates.
- I will allow the Leadership to try and resolve any of my personal grievances before I decide to leave in anger.
- I understand that RoT has a ZERO TOLERANCE for drama and I fully accept any and all repercussions should I start or attempt to start any drama within the kinship.
- I understand that Spamming/Trolling is not tolerated by RoT except for in designated areas (i.e. the Spam Forum).
- I understand and respect the desire of some members to RP more than others. I will completely respect those who are RPing and will in no way interfere with what they are doing.
- I understand that should I wish to join in a RP event that has already been started, I must first respectfully ask via private message.
- I understand that the Rangers of Tharbad and myself are on an RP server. To this extent, I will never disrespect, degrade, mock, or interrupt/interfere with anyone who is RPing.
- I understand that the Council of Tharbad has the right to amend and add items to the current Code of Conduct if deemed necessary.
Role Playing Guidelines
- Try maintaining a high language quality in your RP posts. Keep syntax, spelling and grammar errors to a minimum.
- No METAing or God Mode allowed (i.e. you can attempt to hit somebody, but you must leave it open for them to react to the attempt).
- Avoid overly physical aggression towards another character unless both sides agree to it in advance.
- Avoid RPing someone's character in their stead. They should be the ones doing that!
- The maker of an RP thread/event may write down rules of their own. They should be followed too, at all times.
- If an RP thread/event has a planning area, only those that have expressed interest in the RP may participate.
- Be mindful of the punctuation. Use the * symbol to show narration, the " mark to show speech/dialog and the OOC acronym or (( ooc dialog )) symbols to show non-rp remarks.
- OOC remarks must be kept to a minimum, for they disturb the flow of the RP. Try PMing the one you are addressing the remark to if you really want to say something to them.
- If you are too bored to maintain a high quality in your RP, then just don't participate.
- Always follow the general theme of the RP. If it is meant to be serious, don’t joke around, and vice versa.
- Most importantly, HAVE FUN at all times.
Note that any posts that do not abide by these rules will be moderated/deleted. Any actions in-game during RP events that do not follow these rules may result in the person being asked to leave the event. We reserve these rights, for we want to maintain the highest quality of RP in the kinship.
